International day of persons with disabilities 3 December 2017

International day of persons with disabilities 3 December 2017

In 1992 United Nations General Assembly declared 3rd of December the International day of persons with disabilities. The aim of the observance of this day is to promote a better understanding of issues that persons with disabilities face in a wider community, a better respect of their rights and their inclusion.

The society often sees persons with disability through what they CAN’T DO, while we want to stress the issue of discrimination of persons with disabilities, through a campaign within the project SOCIETIES:

DON’T TELL ME WHAT I CAN’T DO, ASK ME WHAT I CAN.

The goal of the campain is to point out that disability doesn’t determine a person, her need to be accepted and do something meaningful.

Within this campaign, for the 3rd December – International day of persons with disabilities, a documentary film “In search of inclusion“ and a video spot “Don’t tell me what I can’t do, ask me what I can“ were prepared.

The documentary film and the spot show the influence and possibitilities of social inclusion of persons with disabilities and with mental health problems, pointing our experiences, difficulties, but also success of different individuals and CSOs.
